Oh Yes I Do!!
For the past four years, I have sent out a Christmas “newsletter” with my holiday cards. I didn’t realize until this year how controversial these can be, how many people dislike them. If you’re one of those people, let me know so I can take you off my list, OK? haha
Not sure how much time I’ll have in the coming days, but I thought I’d share my Christmas card insert with all of you cool people.
Twas weeks before Christmas, I was feeling great stress
My ‘to-do’ list was long, so much work to progress
Shopping! And baking! And cleaning (or not)!
Christmas cards to be readied but not yet were boughtOh, the season… it surely created much work
At the office and home I was going berserk
Get the tree bought, put the lights up, go to see Santa Claus
In the harried disorder, I’m stopping to pauseHere, we are healthy and happy and well
I hope this note finds you all doing just swell
I thought I’d take time out to give you the scoop
And share some new pictures of my gorgeous troopThe baby is growing - she’s two and a half
She has a sweet voice and an infectious laugh
She loves her big sisters and they all like to play
Her name may be Raena but she’s still my Rae-RaeIn a month, our sweet Jadie will be turning five
She’s got these great skills: to beguile and connive
She’s heading to school in fall of next year
I pray her new teacher won’t show signs of fearSarah is now such a big kid - she’s ten!
She’s doing quite well in school once again
Orchestra, service club, and girl scouting too
You would not believe how much taller she grewAmber is starting her last term at school
A degreed journalist - now isn’t that cool??
We’ll party like crazy at her spring graduation
Listen hard and you’ll hear our big huge celebrationKate’s going back to complete her degree
An excellent idea, I’m sure you’ll agree
She’s got a great guy and she works tending bar
We’ve never had doubt that she’s going to go farBill and I muddle through it all day after day
Time’s always short but we still find a way
The house is still standing and the bills all get paid
We take all our lemons and we make lemonadeSo to heck with the hustle and bustle and mess
We’ll all get by nicely just by doing our best
What’s important are PEOPLE like each one of you
So we’re sending our love to all those in your crewHave a Merry Bright Christmas and a Happy New Year
Here’s wishing you warmth, love, health, and good cheer
Good tidings to you with all that confers
These wishes are carried from our home to yours
In case I don’t get back to this little blog in the next few days, I do truly wish you all a warm and happy holiday. Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas specifically, I hope you’re off work and there are some good TV shows for you to watch. haha
I’ve really enjoyed having this blog the past year and some change and I’ve gotten a lot out of reading your comments, commenting on your blogs, etc. I know I’ve been a big ol’ slacker this past few months but if you’ve stayed with me, well, thanks for the charity. I’ll give you a receipt and you can maybe get a tax deduction. haha
Later, peeps!
We keep our expectations low. We don’t send cards out. Makes my life easy.
Linda that is excellent, anyone would be tickled to find it in their card. I think the controversial letters are the four and five page ones telling you (in detail) that their oldest just won the Nobel Peace Prize, the middle child got accepted to Juliard, and the youngest is starting college and the ripe old age of eight!
The very best of the season to you and your delightful family!
Linda,
I have so enjoyed meeting you and your family. I lurk and read regularly. A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from our home to yours.
That is absolutely fantastic! But I am a little jealous - why is it I can’t get seem to send out cards at all, yet you composed a cute christmas time poem?
Too cute!
Now THAT’s a Christmas letter I would love to receive!
It’s bright, cheery, not a bragging type at all!
Great, just great.
Have a peaceful holiday. Warm wishes to all.
I can honestly say that I have never been bothered by Christmas letters, yet I have never done one myself. Yours was fantastic! Merry Christmas!
Fantabulous holiday poem! If someone in my family sent out a letter as witty and fun as that, I’d have to worry. Because I’d want to top it, and I wouldn’t be able to. ha!
Happy Holidays!
I hope you have a great New Year!
I wish I could get a newsletter together like yours!
happy new year to you!
I love your newsletters! Happy New Year!
I love when my good friends send me those newsletters because they have almost always stretched the truth into a new zipcode… which can be entertaining…
Happy New Year!
I wish all the newsletters I got were like yours! What a treasure! I agree with the poster who complained about all the bragging that usually goes on in those things! I have a relative that expounds upon the birth of each grandchild as if it were some miracle, with no apparant mention as to the age, marital status, or lifestyle of her children, who IMO are a bunch of baby-making welfare tramps. I sent one out when my kids were younger, but now that they’re out of high school, I usually just include a photo so folks can see that they’re still alive. Happy New Year! Keep us laughing!
