I would post if I hadn’t DIED this weekend…

Oh, my heart is still beating and I’m breathing and there are a couple of weak brain waves, but the rest of my body - legs, arms, etc. - are DEAD.  Dee-Eee-Aye-Dee DEAD.

I went camping with the Girl Scouts this weekend.  This is the 5th year my daughter, who is 10 years old, has been in this troop and the first time I’ve been invited to attend a camp out.  Maybe if I would have kept having babies, I could have stayed off their radar.

Because DAMN.

How is it possible that a hike to the nature center and back can be all uphill BOTH WAYS?  How is that possible????  And yet, I have the muscle pain to prove it is so.

Two hikes.  Brutal, uphill hikes with rocks and logs and stuff.  One of them was 2 and a half miles to the nature center and then … and then?  IT STARTED POURING DOWN RAIN.  We hiked the 2 and a half miles back to camp doing double-time.  Back at camp, we couldn’t have a big bonfire because IT WAS RAINING and we cooked dinner in the cold and RAIN and then went to bed at 8 o’clock BECAUSE IT WAS POURING DOWN RAIN.  Have I mentioned the rain?

And while going to bed at 8 o’clock is something I look forward to doing at home someday, when the sleeping surface is a rickety old cot with a mattress about a quarter of an inch thick, well, I think I’d rather sit up in the cold and rain.

I’d better get a damn patch for this.  Or maybe a morphine drip.

(In 8 years when the baby turns 10 and wants me to go camping with her troop, I’m planning to fake rickets or hip dysplasia or something credible that would get me out of it all… if you have an idea about what I should fake, let me know so I can spend the next several years working up to it… I like my fake diseases to be gradual because it lends credibility.)
