Should I be impressed or afraid?
More Jadyn-Tales… (kind of like Dragon Tales only with more fire-breathing goodness)
I recently taught her a new little ditty that she’s been singing like crazy. It goes something like:
Peanut sitting on a railroad track
Its heart was all a-flutter
Nine fifteen came roaring by
Toot-Toot peanut butter
She’s enjoyed it so much that she’s asked me to put various things on the railroad track and make it rhyme. Making things rhyme is one of my very well-honed skills that is in very high demand and brings in most of my income is worthless except to make four year olds giggle. So we came up with:
Cookie sitting on a railroad track
All genuine and humbled
Nine fifteen came roaring by
Toot-Toot cookie crumbled
And more…
Penny sitting on a railroad track
Its value of no matter
Nine fifteen came roaring by
Toot-Toot it got flatter
See how we entertain ourselves in the JustLinda household? Stay far, far away.
So we’re driving home from preschool early yesterday evening and Jadyn told me that she taught the peanut on the railroad track song to her friend Basil only she changed the words. I was so proud thinking My girl, she is JUST LIKE ME! She’s going to make a fortune annoy many people make her mother proud writing senseless rhymes!
So I asked, “Will you tell me how you changed the words?”
“Yes, Mommy.” she replied. And she recited:
Raena sitting on the railroad tracks
Her heart was all a-flutter
Nine fifteen came roaring by
Toot-Toot Raena blutter
“Jadie, that’s so creative.” I said. “But blutter isn’t a word. Usually we try to put in real true words so it makes sense.”
“It makes sense, Mom. But it’s not BLUTTER, it’s BLOODER. You know, ’cause Raena is made out of blood so if the train squished her, it would be all bloody, right?”
{faint}
“So you made a song about your baby sister getting run over by a train and bleeding all over the railroad tracks?” I cautiously inquired.
“It rhymes.” she said, stoically.
My girl. She is JUST LIKE HER FATHER. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
